The Guardians of the Beam are 12 metaphysical animals held post at either end of each beam that cross at their centers; The Dark Tower, the pillar of existence. Around since rising from The Prim the animals hold up the Tower and existence. If they fall, everything falls. The quest of the Crimson King is to see this end, while Roland Deschain is his polar opposite.
This is a very strange kind of pattern that you have explained. How animals are guarding the beam? I think it is better that you should provide more information and explanation of the phenomenon.
